Robert (Bob) Frederick Noe, born October 19, 1921 died June 9, 2010 at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, Michigan where he had lived since 2007.
Bob was born in Pontiac and resided in Jackson, Michigan until 1984 when he and Eleanor (Poelker), his wife of 61 years, retired to the shores of Lake Huron near Mackinaw City. He and Eleanor were active members of First Baptist Church of Jackson and The Church of the Straits of Mackinaw City. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor and grandson Adam Cooke.
He is survived by his son Jim (Jane) Noe of Marquette, daughters Elaine (Eric) Schalge of Alma and Jacquie (Paul) Cooke of Okemos; grandchildren Melissa (Gerald) Whitaker, Rebecca Rasmussen, Andrew Schalge, Sarah (Chad) Green, Kimberly Cooke, Robert (Erica) Noe, Natalie Cooke, Benjamin (Angel) Noe, and Justin (Dana) Eveland; great grandchildren Noah and Elise Schalge, Heath Rasmussen, Miley Noe, Abbiegail, Isaac and Elizabeth Green; sister-in-laws Katherine Walker and Francis Avery.
Bob was in the 393rd Infantry in WWII and served his country in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He wont be mourned by many, for he lived an ordinary, quiet life. He held a job and raised a family, and the world wont notice his passing; though a veteran died today. Its so easy to forget them, for it is so long ago, that our Bobs and Jims and Johnnys went to battle, but we know. It is not the politicians who won for us this freedom that our Country now enjoys. Our country is in mourning for a veteran died today.
The family appreciates the kind and compassionate care he received while at Jacobetti. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may direct memorials in his name to D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, 425 Fisher St, Marquette, MI 49855.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Jackson, 201 South Jackson, Jackson, MI 49201 on Saturday, June 12 at 5:00 pm. The family will receive friends at 4:00 pm preceding the service. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Jackson.
